How does the FreeAgent integration work?
To connect your FreeAgent account, go to Accounts > Add New and follow the prompts.
When you add your FreeAgent account, Turnip will automatically import all your projects and tasks as tags.
If you tag a time slip with a tag imported from your FreeAgent account, your time will be synced to your FreeAgent account when you mark it done.
What data does Turnip import from FreeAgent?
Turnip imports all your projects and tasks as tags. In order to simplify the interface, we’ve opted not to show client names.
Turnip follows FreeAgent’s data structure for tags. That means that when you tag a time slip, you’ll need to select a project first, and then a task. You can also start typing the tag name and it’ll automatically appear in the selector.
Turnip will show all of your FreeAgent time—whether it was tracked with Turnip, on the FreeAgent website, or anywhere else.
Why does my project or task not appear in my tags?
Only active projects and tasks will appear in your tags. Any clients, projects, or tasks marked “Complete”, “Hidden”, etc. will not appear in your list of tags. If you’d like to use a project or task with Turnip, you’ll need to make them (and their parent tags) active.
Turnip updates your tags on a regular basis. If a new tag doesn’t appear right away, go to Accounts > Refresh Data to force an immediate refresh.
Why can’t I see any tags when I try to start a timer?
FreeAgent only allows you to track time to a task. You can’t track time directly to a project.
If you have a project that doesn’t have any tasks, it won’t appear in the tag selector.
The easy solution for this is to add tasks to your FreeAgent projects!
You can do this on the FreeAgent website, and Turnip will update your tag list. Go to Accounts > Refresh Data to force an immediate refresh.
You can also add a FreeAgent task directly from Turnip. Add a new tag and select a FreeAgent project as the parent tag. Your new task will be synced to your FreeAgent account, and you’ll be able to select it when you start a timer.
How do I add a new contact, project, or task?
You can now add new FreeAgent projects and tasks using Turnip. ✨
Go to Tags, then click on the +. From there, you can enter the details for your task or project.
Make sure to select the correct parent for your tag! If you’re adding a project, select your client as the parent. If you’re adding a task, select the project.
Right now, you can’t add a new contact from Turnip directly. If you want to add a new client, you’ll need to do that from the FreeAgent website.
How do I post my time to FreeAgent?
When you mark a timer as done, it will move to the done list. Your time will automatically be posted to FreeAgent. If you’re offline when you mark the timer done, we’ll wait until you’re back online and post the time.
You can also have timers automatically mark as done at the end of each day. We recommend enabling this setting to ensure your time is always synced.
Can I edit my time once it’s been posted to FreeAgent?
You sure can! Just select the time slip you’d like to edit from the done timers list and edit the time. Turnip will update the time record and sync it back to FreeAgent for you.
Once a time slip has been invoiced, you won’t be able to edit that record anymore, and a different icon will appear on the time slip.
If you update your time in FreeAgent, Turnip will also update to show your changes.
